Stepping into a Toy Box

Imagine a hotel where every corner bursts with color and playful details, transforming your stay into a whimsical adventure. That’s the Toy Story Hotel, a vibrant haven nestled near the magic of Tokyo Disney Resort.

The moment you arrive, you’re transported into a life-size board game. Giant toy statues and game pieces greet you, while the main building, resembling a stack of oversized building blocks, sets the playful tone. The ground itself seems to be painted like a giant game board, inviting you to step into a world of fun.

Even the check-in process is a playful affair. A gigantic Lite-Brite welcomes guests with a cheery message, setting the stage for a joyous experience. The reception area is adorned with a giant pencil and oversized Scrabble tiles, adding to the whimsical ambiance. Every detail is meticulously crafted to immerse you in the world of “Toy Story.”

Toy Story Adventures Await

The “Toy Story” theme extends even to the elevators. Vibrant murals adorn the elevator doors, showcasing scenes from the beloved films. The hotel boasts two wings, each dedicated to a beloved character – one for the brave Buzz Lightyear, and the other for the charming Woody. We were lucky enough to stay in Buzz’s wing, where we were greeted by creative touches throughout our stay, including the mural on the elevator doors.

Our room number, painted in a bright, playful palette, stood out against the whimsical black-and-white wallpaper, featuring iconic “Toy Story” toys. The room, designed to accommodate three guests, was a charming blend of comfort and fun. The cloud-covered wallpaper brought a touch of Andy’s bedroom to our stay, while the oversized bed frame reinforced the larger-than-life theme.

Little Details, Big Impact

While the room was designed for three guests, we discovered a clever space-saving solution – a child-size cot hidden beneath one of the beds. The room, though compact, was filled with delightful touches that enhanced the “Toy Story” experience. The TV, designed to resemble an Etch-A-Sketch, added a retro charm, and the Mickey Mouse watch-shaped wall clock brought a touch of classic Disney magic. Even the desk lamp was a playful nod to Luxo Jr., the iconic Pixar lamp.

While the room offered an abundance of charm, it lacked adequate storage space. While colorful hangers were provided for our clothes, they weren’t sufficient for our family’s needs. Unfortunately, this meant we lived out of our suitcases during our stay, a minor inconvenience in an otherwise delightful experience.

A World of “Toy Story” Delights

The hotel’s Lotso Garden Café is a delightful addition to the overall experience. Themed after Lotso, the cuddly bear from “Toy Story 3,” the restaurant offers buffet-style breakfast and dinner, catering exclusively to hotel guests. For quick snacks and necessities, the hotel also has an on-site convenience store.

No Disney experience would be complete without a visit to the gift shop, and Toy Story Hotel is no exception. Here, you’ll find a treasure trove of “Toy Story” merchandise, from adorable plush toys to trendy apparel, ensuring you leave with a piece of the magic to take home.

A Dream Location for Disney Fans

But the true highlight of the Toy Story Hotel is its location – a stone’s throw from the magical world of Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo DisneySea. The Disney Resort Line, an automated monorail, provides easy access to these iconic theme parks. We were just a quick ride away from all the fun and excitement these parks have to offer.

One of the added perks of staying at the Toy Story Hotel is early access to Tokyo Disneyland Park. This exclusive benefit allowed us to enter 15 minutes before non-hotel guests, giving us a head start on the day’s adventures. This perk alone made our stay at the Toy Story Hotel an unforgettable experience.
