The classic “It’s a Small World” attraction will be getting a Marvel makeover in 2025. For a few months, Groot and his Guardians of the Galaxy buddies will take center stage, transforming the ride into a cosmic celebration of Earth’s diverse cultures and music.
The ride will be temporarily closed from September 17, 2024, to January 14, 2025, for the epic transformation. Then, from January 15th to June 30th, 2025, get ready to experience It’s a Small World with Groot!

This new edition of “It’s a Small World” will feature Groot and his Guardians embarking on a global adventure. As they travel the world, they’ll encounter friends from different cultures, experience regional music, and learn about Earth’s unique beauty.
This unique overlay will keep the original Disney characters and combine them with the starry charm of the Guardians of the Galaxy. The ride will showcase baby Groot, that adorable, sapling version of the character that stole hearts in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.”

This Marvel-infused adventure will mark the first appearance of Marvel characters in a Tokyo Disney Resort ride. While Marvel characters are already taking over Disney parks in other parts of the world, Tokyo Disneyland has been holding out. But why the wait? The reason behind this delay is a legal battle between Disney and Universal. The rights to Marvel characters in Japan were held by Universal, resulting in a Marvel-themed Spider-Man ride at Universal Studios Japan.
However, with Universal’s Marvel contract expiring and the Spider-Man ride closing, the rights to Marvel characters in Japan have transferred to Disney. This legal shift has paved the way for Marvel’s grand entrance into Tokyo Disneyland, bringing a whole new level of excitement to the park.
