Gift Ideas: Finding the Perfect Italian Kitchen Souvenirs

Have you ever wondered what to bring back from your trip to Italy? Many of our travelers ask us for suggestions for unique, packable gifts. One of the most popular categories is kitchen items. Not the typical stuff you’d find at a big box store, but authentic Italian-made treasures that will make your friends (and your own kitchen) very happy.

Rome: A Culinary Treasure Hunt 🧭

We recommend five amazing kitchen shops in the heart of Rome, all within easy walking distance from the hotels we book for you.

  • Gusto Emporio: This is our favorite spot for trendy Italian cookware, featuring chic saucepans (perfect for packing), hand-cranked Parmesan graters, serving bowls, and beautiful linens. Everything is made in Italy with excellent design and functionality. Don’t forget to check out their impressive selection of wine and cookbooks.
  • C.u.c.i.n.a: For serious cooks (and those who aspire to be), this store has the largest display of high-quality tools in Rome. You’ll find everything from heavy-duty aluminum pans to unique Italian molds for ciambella, baba’, and zuccotto. Don’t miss the hand-cranked pasta makers and the essential panettone and pandoro pans.
  • Spazio Sette: This elegant store is like stepping into a timeless Italian kitchen with its beautiful design and helpful staff. We love their Alessi flatware, Ginori china, and gorgeous marble items (like mortar and pestles).
  • Limentani: This historic shop (almost 200 years old!) is a true treasure trove of traditional Italian kitchenware. It’s the perfect place to find wedding presents or unique items like marble rolling pins and Ginori china.
  • House and Kitchen (Sorelle Adamoli): This family-owned store has been a Rome institution for generations. They have a great selection of espresso machines, Alessi gadgets, and Neapolitan flip-over espresso pots. But our favorite find here is the mezzaluna a doppia lama, a double-bladed mincing knife that’s a must-have for any serious cook.

Beyond Rome: Kitchen Gems in Venice, Florence, and Naples 🗺️

Don’t worry, we haven’t forgotten about our travelers who are exploring other Italian cities. We have equivalent sources in Venice and Florence. And, this weekend, we’ll be in Naples, the city of some of Italy’s best cooks, so we’ll be able to tell you where to find the best kitchen treasures there, too!

The Perfect Souvenir: Small Gifts with Big Charm 🎁

When searching for a small, thoughtful gift, neighborhood “casalinghi” stores (housewares stores) are your best bet. They’re full of charming, affordable items under €10 ($14), like pizza tools, kitchen shears, fun kitchen timers, and stainless steel funnels. These are all easy to pack and make great souvenirs of your trip!

Finding the Best Deals: Markets & Sales 🛍️

Rome’s bustling markets are another great place to find kitchenware at excellent prices. Just be sure to check the origin to make sure you’re getting authentic Italian goods.

Remember that most of these stores have twice-annual sales, where you can find even greater deals. Let us know if you want dates and times!

So, whether you’re a serious cook, a casual home cook, or just looking for a unique gift, Italy’s vibrant kitchen culture offers something for everyone. Let us help you find the perfect Italian kitchen souvenirs to take home and cherish for years to come!
