Janu, meaning “soul” in Sanskrit, is set to redefine the luxury hotel experience in Tokyo. Unlike the hushed exclusivity of Aman, Janu Tokyo will offer a spirited, social scene while upholding the same exceptional service and elegant design. This vibrant hotel is a celebration of Tokyo’s rich cultural fabric, expressed through its art, design, cuisine, and service.
A New Chapter in Tokyo’s Heart
Janu Tokyo is nestled within Azabudai Hills, a much-anticipated “Modern Urban Village” in the heart of Tokyo. This 8.1-hectare development, a culmination of 30 years of planning by Mori Building Co. Ltd., is a dynamic, interconnected hub perfectly aligned with Janu’s philosophy of fostering connections and bringing people together. Janu Tokyo will be a beacon of energy for those seeking purpose, inner contentment, and a harmonious balance between personal fulfillment and relaxation.
A Luxurious Haven for the Soul
Janu Tokyo occupies 13 floors of the B-2 District Tower, designed by Pelli Clarke & Partners, and features interiors by renowned designer Jean-Michel Gathy of Denniston Architects. All 122 guest rooms are bathed in natural light and boast floor-to-ceiling windows. Many offer private balconies with stunning views of the iconic Tokyo Tower or the surrounding greenery. From the 55 square meter Deluxe Rooms to the expansive 284 square meter Janu Suite, the hotel offers an abundance of connecting rooms, perfect for families and groups of friends traveling together.
A Culinary Journey of Discovery
Janu Tokyo brings a contemporary and creative zest to the Azabudai Hills hospitality scene with six restaurants, a bar, lounge, and a tranquil garden terrace. Each venue embodies Janu’s signature energy, inspired by connection, balance, and exploration. From a delectable patisserie and a lively Italian emporium to a captivating grill restaurant with an open kitchen and bar, the culinary experience at Janu Tokyo promises to be both diverse and delightful. Guests can also indulge in the finest sushi at one of the two Japanese restaurants, or savor the exquisite sumibiyaki (charcoal-grilled) menu at the other. Rounding out the culinary options is a Chinese restaurant with a variety of private dining spaces.
A Wellness Sanctuary for Body and Mind
Spanning over 4,000 square meters, the Janu Wellness Centre is one of the largest wellness facilities in any luxury hotel in Tokyo. Reimagining the concept of balance, the centre goes beyond traditional spa experiences, offering a contemporary approach to wellness with a strong emphasis on social wellness and goal setting. The space is a haven for rejuvenation and includes five movement studios offering spinning, boxing, yoga, Pilates, and simulated golf training. There are also seven treatment rooms, a spacious gym with functional and circuit training equipment, and an extensive hydrotherapy and thermal area. At the heart of this wellness oasis is a 25-meter heated lap pool, a separate Lounge Pool (a traditional Japanese social space), and two Spa Houses.
A Visionary Destination for Connection and Wellbeing
“The development and creation of Janu has been born from Aman Group’s long-term strategic vision,” explains Vlad Doronin, Chairman and CEO of Aman and Janu. “Janu is designed to cater to the growing demand for experiences and destinations that encourage connection, adventure, and unforgettable interactions. We’re excited to bring the brand’s vibrant energy to Tokyo, a city that perfectly embodies Janu’s values.”
A Lifestyle Destination at the Heart of Tokyo
Azabudai Hills, the newest landmark in Tokyo, is a visionary lifestyle district that perfectly aligns with Janu’s purpose of fostering connections and shared moments. This vibrant community, centered around green spaces and wellbeing, will offer a diverse mix of offices, residences, a hotel, international school, shops, restaurants, and cultural facilities. Led by Mori Building Co. Ltd. and designed by acclaimed architect Thomas Heatherwick, Azabudai Hills will attract people of all ages for work and leisure, seamlessly weaving itself into the fabric of everyday life.
A Sanctuary in the City: Aman Residences, Tokyo
Azabudai Hills will also be home to Aman Residences, Tokyo, located in a separate building from Janu Tokyo. Designed by Yabu Pushelberg, these urban residences will offer 91 exclusive homes set to be completed in 2023. Residents will enjoy access to a range of lifestyle services and a dedicated 1,400 square meter Aman Spa with panoramic city views. Aman Residences, Tokyo, will provide owners with a true sanctuary in the heart of the city.
A New Era Begins for Janu Tokyo
Janu Tokyo’s pre-opening and launch will be overseen by Noriko Tanaka, who will serve as the hotel’s first General Manager. Her vast experience in the hospitality industry, including her recent role as General Manager at Amanemu in Japan’s Ise Shima region, makes her the ideal candidate to lead this exciting new venture. With her expertise and passion, Tanaka is poised to introduce Janu Tokyo to the world and usher in a new era of luxury hospitality in Tokyo.
