It’s a funny thing, really. We’re die-hard Disney fans, but our idea of a perfect Disney trip is a whirlwind adventure, packed into a few hours. We love the thrills of the rides, the joyful atmosphere, but we prefer to end our day relaxing in a luxurious hotel. It’s all about finding the perfect balance, right?
Getting There is Half the Fun
The good news is: you can easily visit Disneyland Paris without spending a full day! It’s so easy to hop on a train from central Paris and be whisked away to a world of magic. And, for those who are short on time, a half-day visit can be the perfect way to experience the magic of Disneyland Paris without breaking the bank.
Here’s how we did it:
-
Book your tickets in advance! We found it super easy to secure our tickets through our hotel concierge, the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris. It was quick and hassle-free.
-
Hop on the RER A train. It’s super straightforward. Just a quick walk from the Champs Elysees, and you’re at the Charles de Gaulle – Etoile train station. The clear signage made it easy to navigate, even for a non-French speaker like me!
-
Enjoy the scenic ride. The train journey to Disneyland Paris is about 45 minutes and runs every 6-10 minutes depending on the time of day. The double-decker trains are clean and comfortable, making the journey a breeze.
-
Follow the signs. Once you arrive at Marne la Vallee-Chessy, it’s a simple matter of following the signs to the park entrance. You’ll pass through security first, which is a bit of a squeeze, but it’s quick and efficient.
Exploring the Magical Realms
Disneyland Paris is a smaller version of other Disney parks, but it still boasts five enchanting lands: Main Street U.S.A., Frontierland, Adventureland, Fantasyland, and Discoveryland (similar to Tomorrowland).
We loved exploring the lands, riding the rides, and taking in the charming atmosphere. Some of the must-do rides include:
-
Pirates of the Caribbean: This classic ride is a must-do for any Disney fan!
-
It’s a Small World: This whimsical ride features different countries around the world, offering a unique perspective compared to other versions.
-
Phantom Manor: This spooky ride is a great alternative to the Haunted Mansion.
While most of the narration is in French, it doesn’t take away from the magic. The parades feature introductions in five different languages, making them accessible to everyone!
Making the Most of Our Time
We arrived at 10:30 am and left around 2:30 pm, and managed to squeeze in a lot of fun:
-
We rode several rides, including the Pirates of the Caribbean, It’s a Small World, and Phantom Manor.
-
We explored Sleeping Beauty’s Castle and Toy Storyland playground.
-
We walked the entire park, soaking in the sights and sounds.
-
We enjoyed a quick lunch and saw a few Disney characters.
-
We did some souvenir shopping.
We were lucky to avoid long lines thanks to visiting on a weekday. However, if you’re visiting during peak season, you might want to consider a VIP tour.
A half-day visit to Disneyland Paris is perfect for those who are short on time or who don’t want to spend a lot of money. You can still experience the magic of Disneyland Paris without breaking the bank!
Food and Beverage Adventures
While we were happy to have a quick lunch, we didn’t have a great dining experience. We ate at Buzz Lightyear’s Pizza Planet, which had a buffet-style menu with pizza, pasta, and salad. The food was just okay, and the dining area was a bit messy, with lots of paper plates and plastic cutlery.
However, we’ve heard great things about Walt’s on Main Street, which serves American food with a French twist. And for character dining, Auberge de Cendrillon in Fantasyland is a popular choice.
Pro-tip: If you’re visiting Disneyland Paris, be aware that food prices can be high, and many visitors bring their own food.
The Disneyland Paris Hotel Debate
We debated staying at a Disneyland Paris hotel because we love the Extra Magic Hours perk, which allows you to enter the parks early. But, the hotels were expensive, and the rooms seemed a bit dated.
We ultimately decided to stay at the Four Seasons Hotel George V, Paris. It was a bit more expensive than the Disneyland Paris hotels, but the convenience and luxury were worth it. Plus, it was easy to get to Disneyland Paris by train.
Final Thoughts: Our Half-Day Disneyland Paris Escape
Our half-day visit to Disneyland Paris was a whirlwind adventure that left us wanting more! It was a fun and easy way to experience the magic of Disney. We highly recommend it to anyone short on time or looking for a quick escape from the city.
