The Tokyo EDITION, Toranomon is a hotel that has captured my heart. Every visit feels like an adventure, starting with its jungle-like lobby filled with modern art curated by the legendary Ian Schrager. This time, however, I decided to explore the spa.
A Sanctuary in the City
Located on the 31st floor, the spa offers a serene escape from the bustling Tokyo streets. The compact reception area is flooded with warm sunlight from the terrace, where guests can unwind on reclining chairs while taking in breathtaking city views.
A Spa Designed for Indulgence
I was lucky enough to experience the Couple Suite, a spacious haven with its own sauna, mist sauna, shower, and two laboratory stalls. Bathed in natural light, the room features two comfortable beds and a sofa, offering a perfect setting for relaxation. Through the window, I could glimpse the Azabu project under construction, a testament to the city’s dynamic growth.
A Blend of Science and Luxury
The spa’s focus on well-being is evident in its choice of treatment products. Bioprogramming, renowned for its cutting-edge hair care technology, also boasts a line of cosmetics and skincare that is gaining recognition. Their essential oils are a unique addition to the spa’s offerings, promising a rejuvenating experience. Another option is Absolution, a French vegan cosmetic brand, catering to those seeking natural alternatives.
A Sensory Journey of Sake and Relaxation
For my treatment, I selected the Delightful Winter Offers: the Sake Thermal Treatment and the Relaxation Massage. The former, a 25-minute experience, began with a soothing foot bath using local sake. The gentle warmth and cleansing properties of the sake prepared me for the subsequent massage.
The Power of Sake Lees
My therapist, Yoko Takizawa, expertly applied a sake lees mask to my hands, leaving them feeling exceptionally warm and revitalized. The sake lees, a byproduct of the sake brewing process, are known for their softening and moisturizing properties.
A Relaxing Escape
The Relaxation Massage provided the perfect ending to my spa journey. Using Bioprogramming’s μlion oil, my therapist worked her magic, employing long strokes and moderate to firm pressure to release tension throughout my body. The massage concluded with a delicate décolleté and scalp massage, leaving me feeling utterly refreshed.
A Celebration of Japanese Culture
The spa’s commitment to Japanese tradition was evident in the delightful amenities provided after my treatments. I enjoyed amazake, a fermented sweet sake, accompanied by organic herbal tea and kompeito, Japanese sugar plums. The selection of essential oil scents and the use of natural Japanese ingredients throughout the spa experience demonstrated a genuine appreciation for the country’s rich culture.
A Touch of Magic
The lasting effects of the spa treatments were remarkable. My skin felt noticeably softer, especially on the back of my hands. This sense of revitalization and well-being was truly transformative.
A Spa for Everyone
The spa’s dedication to providing exceptional care is evident in its multi-lingual staff and the willingness to go the extra mile to ensure guests have a memorable experience. The Sake Thermal Treatment is a seasonal offering, but its benefits are undeniable, making it an ideal choice for anyone seeking a touch of luxury and relaxation.
A Gift for the Soul
A spa treatment is the perfect way to pamper yourself or loved ones. In a world filled with stress and uncertainty, taking a break to indulge in a blissful mini-break is a powerful way to nurture both your physical and mental well-being.
