A Day of Pampering at The Oiso Prince Hotel Spa

Looking for a luxurious escape from the hustle and bustle of Tokyo? Look no further than the Oiso Prince Hotel Spa! This haven of relaxation offers a sanctuary for adults seeking tranquility, featuring a stunning infinity pool with breathtaking views of Mount Fuji, a rejuvenating hot stone spa, and soothing saunas.

A Day of Relaxation and Indulgence

I discovered this hidden gem after extensive research online and through social media. I was instantly captivated by the promise of a peaceful day amidst picturesque surroundings. My first visit was a birthday treat for my husband, and we’ve returned several times since, each experience surpassing the last.

This spa is exclusively for adults. Children are not permitted, and guests with tattoos are also not allowed. It’s important to note this rule as it’s strictly enforced. The spa offers a variety of packages, including the Lunch and Spa plan that allows you to choose between the hotel’s Chinese or Western restaurant for lunch. We opted for the Western restaurant and thoroughly enjoyed our meal.

If you’re interested in staying overnight, the hotel offers several Oiso Stay and Spa plans, which are all listed on their website (in Japanese).

Reservations are essential and must be made at least two days in advance. The Lunch and Spa plan is not available on Sundays, but there is a Sunday Brunch plan for those looking for a weekend getaway.

It’s important to note that once you leave the spa after enjoying your lunch, you can’t re-enter. For this reason, we recommend booking the latest lunch time slot (2:30 PM) to maximize your time at the spa.

We’ve learned from experience that arriving early is key to making the most of your day. The spa opens at 6 AM, and we often leave Tokyo as early as 5:30 AM to ensure we can fully enjoy all the amenities.

On a recent trip with a friend, we opted to skip lunch and spend more time sunbathing and reading. The spa staff were incredibly accommodating and refunded a portion of our lunch payment.

Another friend of mine booked her lunch for 11 AM and stayed at the spa until late evening. This is a great option if you want to take full advantage of the facilities, but it’s important to note that the loungers are often snapped up quickly, especially during busy times. Also, if you’re driving, be aware that traffic can get heavy after 9 AM.

A Luxurious Spa Experience Awaits

Upon arrival, we checked in at the spa reception and paid the 6,000 yen per person fee (which includes lunch). Each guest receives a transparent beach bag containing a robe, a towel, and a locker key.

The spa features separate male and female changing rooms, each connected to both indoor and outdoor onsens. The onsens are for bathing in the nude, which is customary in Japan. It is assumed that you will enjoy an onsen at the end of your spa experience, and the towel in your bag is provided for this purpose. The pool has its own towels.

Once you’re ready, change into your swimsuit and robe, and head straight for the infinity pool! This is where the real magic begins. The pool is heated, which is a welcome relief on cooler days.

On the same floor, you’ll also find a hot stone spa, a sauna, a Turkish bath, an ice room, and jacuzzis on the deck. I especially love the hot stone spa and the sauna, which offers stunning views of Mount Fuji on clear days. Seeing Mount Fuji from the sauna was a truly special experience!

There’s a bar located near the pool where you can order smoothies and alcoholic drinks. These are charged to your locker key, which acts as an ID, and you pay at the spa checkout. They also sell snacks like sandwiches and cookies.

The spa has a cozy reading nook and a fireplace that is lit only on cooler days. The entire pool and spa floor is open from 6 AM to 5 PM (longer for hotel guests and depending on the package you choose). Remember, once you leave the spa, you can’t re-enter.

You can book additional Oiso massages and treatments, which are available at an extra cost. The lunch was simple but delicious, and the entire package was exceptionally good value for money. The menu changes with the seasons, so you can always expect fresh and flavorful options.

Planning Your Visit: Essential Tips

Here are a few things to keep in mind when planning your trip:

  • Guests with tattoos are not allowed to use the spa. This rule is strictly enforced, so it’s important to be aware of it before you visit.
  • It’s possible to make reservations in English, but you may be asked a few questions about lunch times and the facilities. It might be easier to ask a Japanese friend or concierge to make the reservation for you.
  • Don’t forget to pack your own swimwear, sunglasses, something to read by the pool, and sunscreen! The sun can be strong, and we learned the hard way last time.
  • Oiso is about a 70-minute drive from the center of Tokyo. Traffic can be terrible on weekends, so plan for extra time or leave very early. We always leave at 5:30 AM to make the most of our day.
  • You can also get to the hotel by train. There’s a direct train from Tokyo Station to Oiso Station (65 minutes), followed by a 7-minute taxi ride.
  • You can stay at the hotel and use the spa facilities at a reduced rate. The last time I checked, it was around 2,000 yen per person.
  • The hotel gets busy, especially during the summer months, so book as far in advance as possible.
  • The hotel also has a water park called “Oiso Long Beach” which is perfect for families. This water park features a giant wave pool, fountain pool, lazy river, baby pool, diving pool, and giant waterslide. There is limited shade, so pack lots of sunscreen and hats. They welcome giant floaties, so bring along your favorite blow-up swan or pineapple. The water park has numerous lifeguards, but be aware that there is an additional charge for the pool, seating, and cabanas. Food and drinks are also available for purchase by the pool.

One unique feature is that every few hours, everyone is asked to leave the pools for 20 minutes. This is a common practice in Japan to encourage toilet and stretching breaks. It might seem odd at first, but it’s just another example of Japanese hospitality!

The Oiso Prince Hotel Spa offers a truly unforgettable experience, blending luxurious amenities with breathtaking views and a peaceful atmosphere. From the soothing onsens to the infinity pool with its stunning Mount Fuji vistas, you’re sure to feel rejuvenated and revitalized after a day of pampering.
