Brand new hotels often face a few teething troubles, but my layover at the Metropolitan Haneda was a seamless experience from start to finish.
The hotel is easily accessible, just one stop away from Haneda Airport via the monorail. A short walk from the station leads you to the hotel’s welcoming entrance.
The staff is incredibly helpful, making check-in a breeze. Our room was efficiently designed, featuring a comfortable bed and one of the most luxurious hotel showers I’ve ever encountered.
A highlight of my stay was the delicious breakfast buffet, included in my budget-friendly room rate. The selection ranged from Western to Asian cuisine. While the scrambled eggs weren’t as firm as some Americans prefer, and the hot food could have used a bit more warmth, the overall experience was satisfying.
This hotel is a true gem for anyone with a layover in Tokyo, offering a restful and convenient stay.

Located a mere 5-minute walk from Osaki station on the Yamanote line, this hotel offers a convenient base for exploring Tokyo. It’s just one stop away from Shinagawa, making transportation a breeze.
The hotel’s quiet location on the edge of a residential area ensures a peaceful retreat from the city’s hustle and bustle. Despite its peaceful setting, the hotel is conveniently connected to several office buildings on the second floor, offering a variety of restaurants within easy reach. A small convenience store is also a short walk away, catering to any last-minute needs.
While the hotel lacks nearby shopping or entertainment options, it boasts a simple and traditional interior, perfect for a relaxing stay. The hotel’s value-for-money approach makes it an ideal choice for budget-conscious travelers.
A Boutique Stay in the Heart of Tokyo: The Kitano
My husband and I recently enjoyed a delightful 4-night stay at The Kitano, a boutique hotel nestled in the heart of Tokyo.
One of the hotel’s greatest strengths is its spacious and immaculately clean rooms, exceeding our expectations. With only four floors, the hotel exudes a charming intimacy, offering a welcome break from the city’s towering skyscrapers.
The staff was incredibly friendly, particularly at breakfast, though we felt they could have provided more assistance when we were struggling to find a restaurant for dinner.
The hotel’s location, while charming, might be a slight inconvenience for tourists. Its distance from popular attractions and its lack of proximity to the JR loop require a bit more planning and time when navigating the city. The surrounding area also lacks a variety of restaurants, so it’s wise to plan your meals in advance.
Despite these minor drawbacks, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Kitano. For future visits, we would likely choose a hotel closer to the city’s main attractions.
Jingqiao Station’s Gem: A Business Traveler’s Delight
Strategically positioned near Jingqiao subway station, this hotel is easily accessible from the 7th exit, just 20 meters away. The hotel lobby is conveniently located on the 4th floor, while the rooms occupy the 2nd to 4th floors. A security system requiring card swiping ensures the safety and privacy of guests.
Due to its prime location, the room sizes are compact, especially for double occupancy. However, the hotel compensates for this with its excellent breakfast buffet, offering a simple yet satisfying selection of Japanese-style meals, fresh fruit, and freshly squeezed juice.
The hotel’s true strength lies in its unbeatable location. It’s just one subway stop away from Ginza and Tokyo Station, a mere 5-minute ride. This makes it an ideal choice for business travelers seeking a convenient base for exploring the city’s business and cultural hubs.
