This article is your guide to navigating the second session of the committee, including information about the venue, accommodation, transportation, and optional programs. Let’s get started!
Where It’s All Happening: Venue and Accommodation
The second session of the committee will be held in Tokyo, Japan. To make your travel arrangements as smooth as possible, the Japanese government recommends four hotels:
- Hotel Nikko Tokyo: Just a ten-minute walk from the venue.
- Intercontinental Tokyo Bay: Enjoy stunning bay views.
- Park Hotel Tokyo: Conveniently located near transportation.
- Tokyo Prince Hotel: A classic choice with excellent amenities.
Important: To secure special room rates, book your stay directly with the hotel by fax before August 10th using the booking code “UNICH”. You can find the reservation forms for each hotel attached.
Getting There: Transportation Options
Let’s break down your travel options to and from the venue:
From Narita Airport:
- Limousine Bus: This comfortable option will take you directly to the entrance of your chosen hotel. The journey time varies slightly depending on the hotel but typically takes between 70 and 90 minutes.
- Train: Take the JR Narita Express to Tokyo Station (63 minutes). From there, it’s a short taxi ride to your hotel.
Accessing the Venue:
- Train: For hotels near the venue, the Yurikamome Line is your best bet. It connects to several hotels and takes you to the FUNE-NO-KAGAKUKAN station, a short five-minute walk from the venue.
- Subway: Several subway lines connect to the venue. Look for the Toei Mita Line or Toei Oedo Line, then transfer to the Yurikamome Line at the Shiodome Station.
- Taxi: For a more direct option, take a taxi to the venue.
Note: Walking times are approximate and depend on your pace.
Explore Japan: Optional Programmes
The Japanese authorities have organized optional programs on Saturday, September 8th for participants interested in experiencing Japanese culture.
- Course 1: Journey to Nikko, a World Heritage Site, about 150 kilometers north of Tokyo, and immerse yourself in its historical beauty.
- Course 2: Experience the artistic beauty of Japan by choosing from traditional performing arts like Nohgaku, Ningyo Joruri Bunraku, or Kabuki. These performances are recognized as Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity.
Registration for these programs is essential and must be submitted to Mr. KUSANO Junichi before August 17th.
Don’t worry about transportation! The organizer will provide transportation from your hotel to the venues and back.
